In 2018 Lambeth Labour councillors promised in our election manifesto to install 200 electric vehicle charging points across the Borough by 2022. Recent decisions to speed up the rollout of lamppost charging points for electric vehicles means we will meet this pledge in 2020 – two years early.
The next round of electric vehicle charging points are starting to go in this month and notices should be on lampposts at the locations where new charging points are going in. As confirmed in our 2019 Transport Strategy, thus will mean everyone in the Borough is within a 5 minute walk of a charging point.
Here in Tulse Hill we’ve joined residents to successfully call for new charging points at a number of locations – including one on Abbots Park where the nearest charger was some distance away. Lambeth Council will also be upgrading the two chargers on Helix Road so they can now be used by pay-as-you go customers with any EV charging cable rather than just specific charging leads as before.
It is hoped that later this year we will move to designating bays adjacent to charging points for electric vehicles only so that those seeking to charge their cars can always access the charging point.
The list of new charging points in Tulse Hill Ward is:
- Leander Road
- Upper Tulse Hill
- Arlingford Road
- Abbots Park
