Lots of local people have contacted us asking for the Council to end the use of harmful pesticides like glyphosate because of the impact it has on biodiversity and the environment. Lambeth Council’s use of pesticides will stop from April 2021 onwards. However, if streets want to opt out of the spraying schedule for this year they can, if they commit to doing the weeding themselves.
Lambeth Council has also extended the registration date for streets interested in opting out of the chemical weed spraying programme for 2020/21. Whilst the current public health situation may have an impact on how this is delivered you can still register your interest up until midnight on Sunday (5 April 2020) by visiting the Lambeth Council website here. The Council website includes information on what this will entail and what happens if a street decides at a later point they can’t undertake the work.
Please share this with your neighbours so they can register if interested!
